Protodimension Issue 3 now available

Yep, we did it again! Protodimension’s third issue is packed with lovely horror-comspiracy-espionage styled gaming-related goodness. Espionage you ask?  Well yes, we have an article for Spycraft 2.0 in amongst the other wonderfulness which includes 2 full length adventures (one for C of C and the other for the GUMSHOE system), two short stories (both written especially for us) as well as an interview with British horror writer Chris Wright, and some excellent artwork including a piece from noted RPG artist Bradley K McDevitt.

Go grab it now!

Time for change…

Been a bit slow with the updating recently, again! I am having a few minor issues with the Wordpress theme I have been using and have decided to try a different one, something a bit less graphics-oriented. It would already have been done, if I hadn’t totally forgotten the user name, password and FTP details for the hosting account!

Anyway, back soon I promise with more dark and distroobing gaming news! Meanwhile, check out one of the new logos I have been working on.

We are also very pleased to present our first cartoon from The Braincase Factory, the work of Nixon and Dietz. Many thanks to them for sending that along to us.

If you want to see it for yourself, browse on over to http://www.protodimension.com/zine/ and grab your own copy. If you would like to contact us about contributing material, the details are on the website.

Cheers!

Released Into the World!

Multi-systemI have let a few things pass me by lately, so to make it up let’s have a round-up of new releases.

Jason L Blair’s Little Fears Nightmare Edition is now out in PDF and selling well, and the print edition is “in the post”.

Chaosium have no less than three new MULA monographs out. They are: Five Go Mad In Egypt, Plan 09 From Halloween, and Queensguard, the latter being a Steampunk alternative setting for C of C! I wants it I does…

Sticking with things Cthulhoid (should that be elder things?), Miskatonic River Press have released Our Ladies Of Sorrow. This is a full campaign complete with player handouts etc. The book was delayed by the sad loss of well-known game author Doc Herber, so it’s great to have it see the light of day.

As I mentioned back in June, Cubicle 7’s ‘Cthulhu Britannica’ is also out now. Their next project for the system is ‘Cthulhu Britannica:Folklore’ which is being written by none other than James ‘Grim’ Desborough…that man again!

You can now get Cthulhu in your Savage Worlds too. Reality Blurs have released ‘Realms Of Cthulhu’. This is a nice big full-colour hardback book, though there is a cheaper PDF option. Order it from here and help spread the madness…bwahahahaaa!

And finally, my fellow Protodimension editors and I were interviewed by Michael Tresca aka Talien for his RPG Examiner gig. You can read the article here. Fame at last?

Gamesfest 4

gamesdragonThe fourth Gamesfest one-day convention will be held this Saturday, October 24th, at the Watford Colosseum. Alas I cannot make it due to work commitments, but I hear the guest of honour is Steve Jackson (the British one!). There is also going to be a lot of Black Library activity there. More details from here.

Halloween On Its Way

punkin_small

Yes, Halloween is coming around again and as might be expected there’s a few things happening in our genre!

First of all, local (to me) author CJ Wright has the revised second edition of his novel ‘Ritual Of Blood’ coming out on the 31st. The first chapter is available as a taster from his website, so have a peek at that. Go on, I’ll still be here when you get back!

Next up, the second issue of Protodimension Magazine will also be released at Halloween. We have some good stuff, including poetry by Lester W Smith as well as all the usual kinds of gaming material and short fiction. Getting better as we go along I reckon.

Finally for now, Halloween is also the birthday of one of my longest-standing internet friends. So, well in advance I want to say Happy Birthday to Miss G. 21 once again!

Zombies Once Again

shotgundiariesGame author John Wick has been hard at work in Hollywood! The Shotgun Diaries TV show is an all-new production based around the characters that John used as backstory for the game of the same name. More details and a couple of pics can be seen on his blog at http://wickedthought.livejournal.com/938382.html

Protodimension Magazine #2

P_dim_150sqGreetings all.

Issue #2 of Protodimension Magazine is currently on schedule. The current list of articles and literature is available here:

http://www.protodimension.com/forums…c.php?f=8&t=66

As always, we welcome any horror & conspiracy-related submissions you may have. We are always in need of everything: adventures, art, scenarios, art, backgrounds, art, blurbs, art, stories, art, plot hooks/adventure seeds, and did I say art? The Issue 3, Winter 2010 submission cut-off date is 1 January 2010. That date would normally be December 1, but the holiday is a wonderful time of the year, isn’t it!

Also, if anyone is willing to work up a cartoon strip (4 times a year, pretty easy, eh?), contact us at the usual email address:

submissions(at)protodimension(dot)com

Note that if we had more submissions, we could publish more often.

Cheers!

Schlocktoberfest!

schlocktoberfest_smallSeriously though, James ‘Grim’ Desborough seems to be getting a lot of airtime on here at the moment. Maybe I should ask for a free sample of something to review? :-)

This month his company, Postmortem Studios, are offering a whole bunch of stuff for half-price over on RPGNow.com. Horror, silliness and comspiracies are all to be had.
